Hi! My name is Georgina E Banks and I’m chronically complicated. I have multiple chronic illnesses, but the main two are Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Functional Neurological Disorder. I don’t expect you to know what they are. After all, that’s what I do – raise awareness!

Don’t criticise what you can’t understand.

Bob Dylan

One of the ways I hope to raise awareness is through my music. Music has been my output for as long as I can remember, so for me, there really is no better way. It’s how I deal with everything without having to make my words make sense.

As a fan of oldies but goldies (like The Beatles, David Bowie and Elton John), you’d think my music would sound somewhat similar, but you’d be better off comparing it to artists such as Julia Jacklin and Phoebe Bridgers – although as my mentor Gus White often tells me, “they’re all so different”.

When I play, it’s like the rest of the world doesn’t exist. It’s the only time I find true peace amongst all the madness.

I started off playing the recorder, like most people my age (which I can still play by the way), and eventually moved on to piano at 6 years old. I finally started playing guitar at 13 and did two ‘rock’ concerts a year with my guitar group. I’ve been singing my whole life, but started taking it seriously at 15 when I (briefly) started taking singing lessons.

I’m currently recording and producing from home with help from Gus (or as I like to put it, “messing around with GarageBand”).
